From the John Paul II International Airport in Kraków – Balice KRK you can get to the capital of the Polish Tatra Mountains – Zakopane in about 1.5 – 2 hours. From the Balice airport you can continue your journey by bus or rent a car. The most famous road leading to the heart of the Polish Tatra Mountains is of course Zakopianka! When travelling by car from Kraków, follow the A4 motorway, then enter Zakopianka/E77 and drive to DK28 in Skomielna Biała, and then continue on the S7 expressway.
If you decide to travel to Zakopane from Kraków, and you cannot or do not want to go by car, there are several fast and inexpensive ways to do so. Here they are:
There are less options when travelling from Warsaw to Zakopane, but they are quite fast and inexpensive.
1. Polski Bus – this is probably the best and fastest option to get to Zakopane. 2. Train – departs from PKP Warszawa Centralna railway station. Address: Aleje Jerozolimskie 54, 00-024 Warsaw 3. By car, it is best to follow the S8 road to A4 motorway and then travel on E77/ Zakopianka.
From the International Airport Katowice – Pyrzowice KTW you can travel to the Tatra Mountains in about 2.5 hours by car, driving on the A4 motorway and then on the S7 expressway.
